Thanksgiving Outreach
In November of 2008, 50 Summit students joined with the Rochester Family Mission to prepare and serve a thanksgiving meal for a few hundred of the mission's clients.

Summit Housing Project
In June of 2009, summit students made repairs on 7 houses in the city of Rochester. These houses belong to owners who are physically and financially unable to improve their living conditions. The students were able to work on projects such as replacing dry wall, faucets, light fixtures, painting, cleaning, and many other small projects. They were also able to pray with and encourage these families.

Mexico with Harvest Evangelism
In July of 2009, 13 Summit students partnered with Harvest Evangelism, to build a house in Reynosa, Mexico. Reynosa is just across the border from McAllen, Texas, and the neighborhood has been stricken with extreme poverty. Through Harvest Evangelism, and their unique partnership with Home Depot, the Summit Students are able to build a one family house for $3500.

Haiti with Hands and Feet
In August of 2009, 14 Summit students are partnering with the Hands and Feet Orphanage in Jacmel, Haiti. The orphanage was devastated by hurricanes in 2008, and their growth was stunted as a result. The Summit students will help with projects such as building a wall that will help redirect water during future storms, and building additions to the orphanage so that Hands and Feet can care for more orphans.

It has been an incredible journey, seeing the Summit experience extend from classroom teaching to actively living out the gospel message. Being salt and light in this world is something that one cannot experience from behind a desk. It's also a blessing to be a part of the first fruits of TFH's global vision...carrying the message of the gospel to the uttermost!

JUNE 2009 - ONE SERVE week...the Church coming together to reach out to the lost, the lonely and the forgotten of our communities.  At TFH, over 40 teams with over 500 volunteers served over 1000 people in the Rochester area.

Individuals, families, youth, and children reaching out to those without a home, without family, without hope, sharing God’s compassionate love and meeting real needs in our community.  It was inspiring to watch the excitement of the House as we prepared to serve those in need during this week.  There was such a buzz of anticipation.  People truly desiring to reach out beyond themselves to serve others and to share Christ’s love.

We served the homeless food and provided clothing, cleaned and painted houses, organized closets, played a game of baseball with homeless youth, put on a prom for some seniors and visited with others, created a vegetable garden, made blankets for single mothers and their babies, baked cookies with adults with developmental disabilities, and shared our time with former inmates. That’s what it was all about – sharing our time and God’s love in practical ways.

It was an incredible experience with life-changing results. Participants during ONE SERVE shared these reflections:

“We were touched by every encounter. ...just by smiling and greeting this community we could’ve been the highlight of their long, empty day.”

“One teen turned to me and said, ‘We’ve never had anyone care enough to actually spend time with us’.”

“Now these young ladies will have a place where they can choose life.”

“One young man who was staying in a halfway house very quietly came over to us and asked if we had sweaters or jackets. His gentle quiet way was so precious. He let us all pray for him...what an honor to represent Jesus to this man.”

It was a pivotal week that will not be forgotten.  Relationships were established within our community; the passion to serve others outside of ourselves was birthed in our hearts.
