SERIES: Anchored: Anchored in His Faithfulness:
TITLE: Part 9: Moving Forward with Confidence in God
SPEAKER:
Pastor CJ Cody

Scriptures—

Jeremiah 17:7–8, Hebrews 10:23, Hebrews 11, and Hebrews 10:38–39.

Summary—

Pastor Cj focuses on the unwavering faithfulness of God as our anchor in difficult times. Drawing from Jeremiah17:7, it reminds us that true confidence comes from trusting in God rather than our own strength or circumstances. Through David’s story, we see how remembering God’s past faithfulness gives us courage to face present challenges. When we reflect on our own testimonies, we gain the boldness to keep moving forward in faith. Pastor CJ calls us to remember His faithfulness, remain in it daily, and take action with bold trust in Him.

Key Takeaways—

  • Our confidence comes from trusting in God’s faithfulness rather than relying on our own abilities or circumstances.

  • God is reliable and consistent—He has never failed to keep His promises.

  • When fear or worry arise, they are reminders to refocus our hearts and minds on God’s faithfulness.

  • We strengthen our faith by remembering how God has been faithful in our lives in the past.

  • We must remain in His faithfulness, resisting the urge to move ahead in our own strength after He works in our lives.

  • Faith calls us to action—trusting God should lead us to bold obedience, knowing that even when we are faithless, He remains faithful.

Discussion Questions—

  1. How does remembering God’s past faithfulness change the way you approach the challenges or uncertainties you are facing now?

  2. In what areas of your life might you be relying more on your own strength than on God’s proven faithfulness?

  3. What specific moments in your life remind you that God has been faithful and should give you courage to face your current challenges?

  4. What step of obedience might God be calling you to take right now, even if it feels unclear or uncomfortable?

  5. Are there places in your life where you may be partially obeying God instead of following His direction completely?

  6. What emotions or circumstances in your life are signaling that you need to refocus your trust and hope back on God?

Practical Application—

  • Personal Reflection: Take five minutes of quiet time to ask yourself what situation in your life requires deeper trust in God’s faithfulness, what step of obedience He is asking you to take this week, and how your life might change if you truly lived believing He is faithful.

  • Commitment and Accountability: If comfortable, share with the group one area where you need to trust God this week, one action step you will take in faith, and one way the group can pray for you or help keep you accountable.

  • Practical Application: As a group, choose one or two steps to practice this week, such as starting a faithfulness journal, completing an area of obedience you’ve delayed, taking a bold step of faith, reaching out in a conversation God has been prompting, or memorizing Hebrews 10:23.

Closing Prayer—

Close your session by praying together as a group. Invite everyone to stand and spread out in the room, lifting their hands as a sign of surrender and trust in God. Pray that each person would have bold faith to bring their needs before the Lord, believing in His goodness and faithfulness. Ask God to strengthen their hearts so they would continue to trust Him even in seasons of uncertainty or waiting. Pray that when God moves, He would find them still standing in faith, confident that the One who promised is always faithful.
