SERIES: Dust and Diamonds
TITLE: Part 6 - Co-Workers with Christ
SPEAKER:
Pastor CJ Cody

Scriptures—

Isaiah 43:2, 16-19

Summary—

Pastor CJ emphasizes the importance of remembering God's faithfulness in past seasons while remaining open to His new work in the present. Pastor CJ shares his personal testimony of reluctantly moving to Rochester, highlighting how God orchestrated every detail despite his resistance. He focuses on the balance between remembering God's past miracles to fuel our faith and not being imprisoned by expecting Him to work the same way again. Pastor CJ calls us to face our current challenges with courage, trusting that the same God who delivered them before will make a way again, even if the method is different.

Key Takeaways—

  • God is present in every detail of our lives, even when we can’t see His hand.

  • Obedience often requires moving forward beyond our desires and comfort.

  • Remembering God’s past faithfulness should strengthen our faith, not trap us in the past.

  • We must focus on who God is, not just how He worked before.

  • Faith means fixing our eyes on Jesus rather than the method or outcome.

  • God may not remove us from the fire, but He is always with us in it—and our stories fuel faith for the next generation.

Discussion Questions—

  1. When have you felt God calling you to something you didn't want to do, and how did you eventually recognize His hand in that situation?

  2. What specific memories of God's faithfulness can you recall that should be fueling your faith today but you may have forgotten or taken for granted?

  3. Why do you think we so easily forget God's past faithfulness when facing new challenges, and what practical steps can you take to remember better?

  4. Where are you currently facing “waters,” “rivers,” or “fire,” and how does Isaiah 43:2 speak into that situation?

  5. How might focusing on how God worked in the past limit your faith in who He is today?

  6. How can your testimony of God's faithfulness serve as fuel for someone in the next generation who hasn't yet experienced God's deliverance in their own life?

Practical Application—

  • Write down 3-5 times God has come through for you. Review it when facing new challenges.

  • Tell someone (especially someone younger in faith) about a time God proved faithful in your life.

  • Choose one difficult reality you've been avoiding. Face it honestly, then write down three truths about God's character that apply to that situation.

Closing Prayer—

Close your session by praying for those facing "waters," "rivers," or "fire" situations. Pray for obedience even when it doesn’t make sense. Finally, pray for the next generation to witness God’s faithfulness.
